Titanic II: Apply now – near, far, wherever you are

Whatever you think about Titanic II or the man behind it – Clive Palmer – you’ve got to admit it’s a great story – and one that keeps on giving.

We at CCUK are divided down the middle on whether the ship will even be built (I personally think it will be), but we continue to follow its twists and turns with interest.

The latest news is that they are looking for a Captain, and apparently have already had eight applications for the job.

Of course the ship needs a Captain, and I’m sure the successful applicant will get an enormous amount of publicity but who in their right mind would want to be Captain of Titanic II?

The pressure would be almost unbearable as the eyes of the world would be on you, and one false move and that would be it for your career.

However, we can see the appeal of applying to work on the ship. As Prof Palmer himself says, staff benefits would include ‘bragging rights’ and ‘falling in love’.

(We’ve long thought that the Professor has got the film and reality mixed up).

As he told the Australian newspaper: “Of course we’ll be making a movie Titanic II. We’re actually pretty sure (staff will star in the movie). I don’t think we’ll be employing actors – we want the ones in the movie to be more true to real life.”

He said wages would be similar to other cruise ships – and in a first for the cruise industry – staff accommodation will be better than First Class.

He added: “There will be a certain elitism to say you’ve worked on Titanic II.”

Indeed. Then revealing his romantic streak, Palmer said: “I think you’d fall in love and get married. It will be a ship full of love.”

But the best job (according to Clive) will be the activities director, “because there are so many activities to do on the boat and there are so many different ideas going back in time. We’ll be having balls and arranging a whole lot of different things.”

Which no doubt will include organizing Irish jigs in the Third Class accommodation – where Prof Palmer has claimed he’ll be rather than stuffy old first class.

The other great job will be the F&B director, according to Prof. Palmer:

“The food and beverage director is also another great job because we’ve got 68 chefs who have already produced the Titanic II menus. The food in 1912 was of a totally different cooking style than today so I suppose that’s a great job for people on the ship.”

Anyway, if you are interested in applying for a job onboard Titanic II then you do have a bit more time to apply: applications will close at the end of 2015, before the ship sets sail on its maiden passenger voyage from Southampton to New York in 2016.

Would you work on Titanic II? Or even sail on the ship? Tell us below.

Whilst working onboard queen Mary, queen Elizabeth and the Victoria I always felt that there was something missing. I feel I can obtain that onboard the titanic 2

Well, currently I am thirteen years of age, but the year of Titanic II’s supposed maiden voyage, I would be sixteen, and willing to do absolutely any job upon that spectacular ship, even washing the dishes or sweeping the decks. My dream has always been to see a second Titanic built, and know here it is, though, I will most like never be able to go on Titanic II, let alone the maiden voyage. That is why I am offering my assistance to even the lowliest job on deck, just as long as I get to fulfill my dream. Thankyou. Titanic II’s, Maiden Voyage.
